I was raised by my grandmother, a warrior in her own right, who did everything she could to protect me, even though we lived in the harsh reality of the projects. We didn’t have much, but she gave me everything that mattered, protection, love, and the belief that I could rise above it all. Though we struggled a lot, she always remain composed as optimism was the light that shined in our darkest moments; unknowingly laying the foundation for me and my mindset of keep moving forward. Through it all, as a youth I was blessed with the ability to understand right from wrong. That even when life is unfair, you can still choose to be faithful, grounded, and good. Life, interactions, and experiences are the teachers educating that no matter your circumstances, perspective can be shaped, values can be taught, and purpose can be found.
Life threw curveballs, but I’ve come to see mistakes as lessons, progress in disguise. Your circumstances don’t define you, your choices do. I’m human, like everybody else, but I know now that every day I wake up, I’ve got a new shot to grow stronger, lead better, and live with intention. That’s what POPS UNITED is all about, creating a space for men and women to rise, fathers and mothers to lead, and young kings and queens to be guided. I started a small trucking business with courage, but I built POPS UNITED with heart. And I believe you should dream so big, it scares you and love the grind so much, that it doesn’t matter how hard it gets…you just keep moving forward.
